Fine artists Christina Hopkinson (L) and Gail Wareham (Rt) outside Gail’s studio in Kelso, Scotland.
Fine Artists Christina Hopkinson BWS GSA and Gail Wareham GSA, NAPA, are about to bring our ancient woodland to life and take us all on a journey through the seasons, from Spring to Winter. They are working together, with the support of the Woodland Trust, to help raise awareness of the fragility and danger that our British woodlands face.
Gail Wareham, who currently sits as Chair on the Fine Art Committee at the Fine Art Trade Guild says “This finely balanced eco system belongs to all of us. It is a precious gift, and if we take time to look after it & protect it from the destruction it faces in the modern world, our Children, our Grandchildren, and our Great Grandchildren, will all enjoy it too”.
Christina and Gail have always had an awareness of their jointly shared passion for nature since meeting each other through being Members of the Guild Society of Artists and Christina points out that “Our trees help us to breath & they signal the changing seasons. Many have been standing since before we were born, and will, with help, remain standing for generations to come. But this is not guaranteed. Unless we stand up and protect our ancient woodlands, these trees, their ecosystems and the creatures and plants that depend upon them to survive will be lost to us forever. We cannot allow that to happen”.
